Power Play for Control of the MN House
Controversy, partiality, manipulation, and aristocracy in the house
Who feels like you just can’t break into the political realm unless you sign your soul away to be a puppet for a party system?
I’m here to tell you it’s a rigged system. Many of you already know, but if you’ve ever run for an office without a lot of money behind you from one of the parties, you will not win. And I mean A LOT of money. Why do you think all our politicians take money from PACs? To support their political addiction. They crave power and control. Do you really think the majority of them are there to represent, nay, protect you? They are protecting themselves so they can live to see another day ‘in office’.
Well, if you are new to my articles then I will tell you that WE THE PEOPLE need to keep them in line or they will become our oppressors. But remember - you are only oppressed if you allow it.
Today’s message is paraphrased from someone else that is an American patriot in a Telegram feed that I participate in. I have edited it slightly, but the message is the same. Please take note if you are a Minnesotan. If you aren’t, then take note of how to take action in your own community. What we do here can be done anywhere. Below is a Call To Action for anyone in Minnesota:
Power Play for Control of the MN House: The Drama Unfolds!
Background:
The 2024 election results in Minnesota have been anything but smooth. Initially, it appeared the House would be split evenly with a 67/67 tie. But then, things got complicated.
HD40 Controversy:
A major twist came when it was revealed that the Democrat winner of House District 40 (HD 40) was disqualified due to overwhelming evidence that he didn’t actually live in the district he ran to represent. Utilities and internet weren’t even connected at his supposed residence! After reviewing the evidence, the judge ruled that he wasn’t qualified, meaning a special election is required. This has now flipped the balance, giving Republicans a slim one-seat majority.
Timing of the Special Election:
Instead of waiting for the seat to be officially vacated as required by Minnesota statute, Governor Walz announced a special election for HD 40 to be held on January 28. Naturally, a lawsuit followed – the Minnesota GOP is challenging Walz’s decision to move ahead with the special election. You can read more about it here: MN GOP Files Lawsuit Against Walz.
What’s at Stake?
Control of the majority in the House determines who will be Speaker and sets the course for committee assignments. HD 40 is considered a fairly blue district, and Democrats are hoping to win back the majority through the special election. That’s why they’re pushing for the vote to happen as soon as possible – even if it means bending some laws to make it happen.
The Steve Simon Controversy:
On Tuesday, January 14, the MN House legislators will be sworn in. As all terms have expired, Secretary of State Steve Simon will preside over the ceremony. However, Simon recently made waves by stating he would count the majority as 68, disregarding the open HD 40 seat. This has raised concerns about overreach – read more here: GOP Leader Blasts Secretary of State.
Power Plays in Full Swing:
Both parties are in full battle mode, trying to secure the majority. Historically, the Republicans have had the advantage in these situations. In 1979 and 2005, the Speaker of the House was elected with just 67 votes (you can verify this in the House Journal on Jan 8, 1979, and Jan 4, 2005: House Journal).
What Can You Do?
It’s time to step up and make your voice heard. We all can make a difference, even if we can’t do it all. Here are a few ways to get involved:
Encourage Our Legislators:
Our representatives are fighting hard for us. Let’s support them! Send an email, make a call, write a letter, or visit them in person. Find their contact info here: Minnesota House of Representatives – Members.Spread the Word:
Public awareness can have a huge impact. Talk to your neighbors, share the story on social media, and spread the word far and wide. We cannot let this kind of manipulation go unchecked.Contact the Secretary of State:
Call the Secretary of State’s office and demand that both our constitution and historical precedent be followed. The majority should be determined by the number of legislators sworn into office, not by manipulation.
Let’s keep the pressure on and make sure our voices are heard in this critical moment!

I sent emails to both SoS Simon and my HD representative. I received 2 automated responses back. Let’s see how long it will take for them to address me personally. Last time I sent emails, it took my house rep 3 months to write a ridiculous email that meant nothing. Simon will probably not address it at all.
But, it doesn’t matter. Because, it’s THEIR actions that will matter. It’s our COLLECTIVE actions that matter. If we all do this, and they get hundreds of emails they will have no other option. All those emails are a matter of PUBLIC RECORD. If they do nothing, they can be recalled. They probably think we won’t do it. But, lucky for us many of you know how to do data requests now. You can get all their comms regarding any public issue and recall them if they don’t follow the will of the People.
